May Day Favorites

Here are some of the things I am most grateful for this past week. As I try to do every Friday, I am linking up once again with Susanne and others at Living to Tell the Story for Friday's Fave Five.

  • Hiking - Josh and I went on some great hikes this week.  These are some scenes from a hike we did Sunday afternoon - The Bonneville Shoreline Trail. It was so nice to be outside hiking with my son.

Tuesday afternoon, we went on another nearby hike - Little Cottonwood/Temple Quarry Trails.  It was a delightful afternoon for a hike.  I am glad we have had beautiful spring days for hiking.  I am also glad that Josh likes to hike with his mom and that we have so many beautiful areas to hike in relatively close to our home.

  • Hand Healing - I went to the doctor Thursday morning for the final follow-up visit on my broken hand. The doctor said the hand is getting better.  In one more month, it will be completely healed.  The doctor was well pleased with how well things are going and said another visit wouldn't be necessary. I am so grateful that the hand has healed quickly and normally, after I broke it in early March.

  • Rented - I got an email from our property manager yesterday saying that a new tenant has signed a lease on our old house, which we are now using as income property. We went over to the house last night, to see what yard clean up needs to be done. The old tenants were moving out and the new tenants will be moving after the home is cleaned on Monday. It is a blessing that we will be having new tenants move in so quickly with no loss of rental income.

  • Late Night Reading - Because we are both working from home right now, Charly and I have gotten into the habit of staying up later than usual to read before bed.  I find myself really enjoying sitting by my husband, on the couch, as we both relax with a a good book. I finished this book Thursday.  It was good and I learned a lot from it, but it was a bit heavy in spots and I need a lighter read next.

This book, which I heard about my from blogging friend Happy One over at Life is Good is my next read because I need a good, light, humorous fiction book. I am looking forward to this book and hope it really fits the bill.  I am grateful for books of all kinds and I am thankful that I enjoy reading.

  • Rain - We had a nice rain storm yesterday afternoon, which is great because we have had a dry spring and we need some rain.  You can see, in this picture,  how our beautiful mountain view was completely hidden by the low rain clouds.

The plants I have in my patio container garden also liked the rain storm. I am thankful for the rain and the cooler temperatures it brought with it.

  • More masks - I made even more masks this week, and was able to send them to family, friends and acquaintances who need them.  So far, I have sewed 85 masks and have given away 79. My goal is at least 100 masks, if my elastic goes that far. As more stores and businesses start opening up here in Utah and other places, we are being encouraged to wear masks in public. I feel blessed and grateful that I am able to make these masks and give them away to those who need them.  I am thankful that God has put on my heart this small bit of service I can do to make a positive difference.
